Long before kitesurfing became the global phenomenon it is today, my passion for the wind and water took root. Back in 1997, when gear was primitive, two-line kites were the standard, and the sports community was just a handful of adventurous pioneers, I hooked into my first kite. It was love at first flight.

Over the next decade, as kite technology evolved and the sport began taking off across the globe, I explored coastal waters looking for the perfect spot—a sanctuary with reliable trade winds, warm tropical waters, and ideal riding conditions.

That search led me to the eastern coast of the Dominican Republic, where I discovered a hidden paradise: Cabeza de Toro in Punta Cana.

The Vision: Founding Kite Surf Punta Cana (Late 2009)

When I arrived in Cabeza de Toro, I immediately recognized something extraordinary. An outer coral reef shields the beach, creating a mirror-flat, waist-deep turquoise lagoon with smooth, consistent winds. Unlike crowded beaches with deep water and ocean chop, this natural setup offered the safest and most effective learning environment anywhere in the Caribbean.

In late 2009, I founded Kite Surf Punta Cana with a single core mission: to share the pure joy of kiteboarding through high-quality, personalized instruction.

From day one, my philosophy was clear: we don't just give lessons—we teach riders autonomy. I hand-picked instructors who shared that dedication to student progression, safety, and passion for the ocean.

Growing with the Sport: From Kitesurfing to Wingfoiling & E-Foiling

What started as a small kite school built on passion has grown into one of the Caribbean’s premier watersports centers.

As equipment and watersports evolved, so did we:

  • International IKO Certification: We aligned our teaching methodology with the International Kiteboarding Organization (IKO), establishing standardized, safety-first step-by-step training.

  • Duotone Partnership: We became an Authorized Duotone Dealer, ensuring our students and renters ride with brand-new, top-tier equipment every season.

  • Expanding Horizons: We introduced Wingfoiling and E-Foiling, allowing ocean enthusiasts of all levels to fly above the water, even on light-wind days.

Our Home Today: Luxury & Adventure at Pearl Beach Club

Today, Kite Surf Punta Cana is proudly based at the luxury Pearl Beach Club in Cabeza de Toro. Our students and guests enjoy a seamless blend of world-class instruction and luxury beach amenities—including oceanfront lounge areas, swimming pools, fresh dining, private showers, and gear storage.

Over the past decade and a half, we have had the privilege of teaching thousands of students from around the world—from complete beginners taking their first water starts to experienced kiters perfecting their jumps, tricks and transitions.
